Coulson Aviation Australia has its headquarters at Bankstown Airport and a base at Richmond RAAF base, Sydney, New South Wales.

Coulson Aviation Australia provides all airside management, including pilots, crew and maintenance for the NSW Rural Fire Service-owned RFS Boeing 737 Large Air Tanker, 2 X Cessna Citation jets and 2 X Bell B412 helicopters.

Apprenticeship - Expressions of Interest

Coulson Aviation Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from persons considering an apprenticeship as a B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to directly support the maintenance and operation of the NSW RFS-owned aircraft. This apprenticeship is for a B1 position that will be offered at the Coulson Aviation Australia Aircraft Maintenance facility at Richmond, NSW on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

The position is for a term of 4 years, with the potential for an offer of permanent engineering employment at the conclusion of a successful apprenticeship. During the term of the apprenticeship, there will be opportunities to attend short term work at other bases to gain further experience in the organization’s operations. The position will suit a highly motivated applicant with a desire to achieve a fulfilling career in aviation maintenance. Qualifications will be gained through the NSW TAFE system by block release programs to Certificate IV/Diploma levels and will require applicants to have a proven culture of dedicated study.

Preference will be given to applicants who show an aptitude for interests or hobbies within a mechanical field. Demonstration at the interview of knowledge in these areas and any projects an applicant has completed or have underway would be advantageous.

It is expected that the apprenticeships will commence in late 2021 or early January 2022; however, dates are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants are required to have:

• Minimum of School Certificate level with a preference for Year 12 completion

• Successful passes in Mathematics and English

• Demonstrated Mechanical and Achievement

• Willingness to work hard towards achieving a successful Aviation Career

• Willingness to travel to other areas to attend TAFE

• Current Drivers Licence

• Names and Contacts of 2 referees

Working hours will be in line with those of the Richmond engineering hangar; this could involve some shift work and overtime in the second and subsequent years of the apprenticeship and could include interstate and international travel.
