ABOUT COULSON AVIATION
Coulson Aviation is a global aerial firefighting company that operates in Canada, the USA, Australia, and Chile. We produce, maintain and operate a fleet of large aerial firefighting aircraft consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. With our fleet, we can run rapid aerial fire suppression, including initial attack and extended attack protocols. We are a growing organization that has been in business for 63 years.
Due to our company growth and expanding footprint, we are looking to add a Design Project Manager in Port Alberni, BC.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
The Design Project Manager reports to the Design Manager.
The Design Project Manager will play a key role in the organization. As Project Manager you will be responsible for co-ordination of activities between the Design and Manufacturing Departments. You will create schedules and monitor task progress, holding individuals accountable for delivering tasks on time. Using the schedule as a tool, you will work with the design manager to define resource needs for various projects. Your schedule will show dependencies and will track the impacts of any task that starts to slip.
In this role you will need to be agile, and work to maintain a structure in a dynamic and often changing environment. You will work with the leadership team in assessing upcoming projects, ensure that tight schedules are met and be the voice of reason when expectations are set too high.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide workload forecasting as new projects are initiated and provide progress status.
- Assist the Design Manager in assigning new tasks.
- Organize and assist in team meetings with project stakeholders as required.
- Take initiative and suggest improvements.
- Monitor small to medium projects with minimal supervision.
- Work with the team to develop, establish, and administer AS9100 procedures.
- Project tracking, updates and trends.
- Report project status at regular intervals, and monitor spend.
- Maintain awareness of project management tools and software and make recommendations as required.
- Interact with manufacturing and resolve conflicts between departments.
- Maintain a priority list.
- Assist in task estimation.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in project management or similar responsibility.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Project, Smartsheet or similar.
- MS Office.
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- PMP or similar preferred.
